US-Eligible Crypto Airdrops: What You Can Actually Claim
Most airdrops exclude US users. Here's how to tell which ones you can claim, and the US-legal programs worth your time.
How we make money: we earn a commission when you sign up with an
exchange through our links. That never changes what we recommend or how we rank —
rankings follow our published review criteria and are re-checked on a fixed schedule.

Crypto risk: crypto assets are volatile and can lose value, are not FDIC-insured, and are not a bank deposit. This is not financial advice — do your own research before trading.
Why most airdrops exclude the US
Projects exclude US users to avoid securities exposure. The SEC's 2026 interpretation (Release 33-11412) carved out airdrops of non-securities for no consideration, but task/bounty drops stay in a gray area — so most projects simply block US residents.
How to check if a drop is US-eligible
- Read the project's own terms — look for a "restricted jurisdictions" or "US persons" clause.
- Check if KYC is required; US identity often disqualifies.
- Never use a VPN to evade geo-blocks — it violates the project's terms and doesn't change your tax obligations.
What US users can actually access
The genuinely US-accessible "free crypto" category is learn-and-earn and rewards programs on US-legal exchanges — Coinbase Wallet Quests, Crypto.com Airdrop Arena and University, Bitstamp Learn & Earn, and (when available) Robinhood Learn & Earn. See our learn-and-earn guide.
Read before you claim
- Not guaranteed, not investment advice. Airdrops are not guaranteed — a project can cancel, change, or fail to deliver, and rewards can be worth less than expected. This page is for education only and is not financial, investment, legal, or tax advice.
- Eligibility. Most crypto airdrops exclude US persons. Eligibility shown is as reported at the last-checked date — always confirm in the project's own terms. Do not use a VPN to evade geographic restrictions.
- Taxes. In the US, airdropped/rewarded crypto is generally ordinary income at its fair market value when received; selling later is a separate taxable event (IRS FAQ Q&A 22-24). Keep records.
- Scam safety. A real airdrop never asks you to send crypto or share a seed phrase. Never pay to claim. Verify every claim page against the project's official domain.
- Affiliate disclosure. Some links are referral links; we may earn a commission at no cost to you. Value estimates are not guarantees.
